Oilers 3, Sharks 0: Ben Scrivens put on a goaltending clinic en route to an historical shutout as host Edmonton matched a season high with its third straight win.
Taylor Hall recorded a goal and two assists, Jordan Eberle notched one of each and defenseman Justin Schultz added a tally for the Oilers, who also won three in a row from Nov. 16-21. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins set up a pair of scores and Scrivens registered his fourth blanking of the season and first with Edmonton by making 59 saves - the most in a regular-season shutout during the NHL's expansion era.
Antti Niemi turned aside 24 shots for the Sharks, who were shut out for the second straight game and fourth time this season. Scrivens stopped 20 shots in the first period and 22 in the second before making a mere 17 saves in the third to secure his sixth career blanking and shatter his career high of 40 stops set on March 26, 2013 against Florida.
San Jose had a bevy of scoring opportunities in the second period but was unable to solve Scrivens. The netminder made a brilliant glove save on defenseman Jason Demers midway through the session before receiving help from the iron as Tommy Wingels hit the crossbar and captain Joe Thornton rang a shot off the post.
Patrick Marleau had a pair of prime chances late in the period but was thwarted each time. Scrivens denied the veteran during a short breakaway with 1:40 remaining and made a blocker save on Marleau's shot off a 2-on-1 rush less than 30 seconds later.
Schultz gave Scrivens all the offensive support he needed midway through the first period. After receiving a pass from Nick Schultz, the blue-liner unleashed a rising wrist shot from the right point that sailed past Niemi for his seventh goal of the season.
Hall doubled the lead at 6:10 of the third with his 19th tally. Jordan Eberle carried the puck down the right wing before making a cross-slot pass to Hall, who beat Niemi from the left faceoff circle to end his seven-game drought.

San Jose C Tyler Kennedy left the game in the first period with an undisclosed injury and did not return. ...
