Flyers 1, Devils 0: Ray Emery turned aside 14 shots for his 15th career shutout as visiting Philadelphia rebounded from an embarrassing defeat 24 hours earlier.
Brayden Schenn scored the lone goal with just under 5 1/2 minutes left in the first period and Emery made it stand up for his first victory of the season as the Flyers bounced back from a 7-0 home drubbing by Washington on Friday night.
Martin Brodeur made 20 saves but absorbed his first loss in his last eight matchups against Philadelphia (playoffs included) as New Jersey had its modest two-game winning streak snapped. Brodeur beat the Flyers three times last season as the Devils went 4-0-1 in five meetings.
Philadelphia gave Emery the only goal he would need at the 14:29 mark of the opening period. Defenseman Andrej Meszaros wristed a shot from just inside the right faceoff circle that Schenn barely touched with the tip of his stick for his third tally of the season.
The Devils were unable to supply any sustained pressure on Emery, including only three shots in the final 20 minutes. They came close to notching the equalizer when Michael Ryder hit the post with just over 4 1/2 minutes to play on the team's fifth power-play chance of the contest.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Devils C Dainius Zubrus, a first-round pick of Philadelphia in 1996, appeared in his 1,100th career game. ... Flyers C Vincent Lecavalier, who suffered facial contusions in Friday's brawl-filled loss with Washington, is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday. RW Steve Downie, who sustained a concussion when he was also involved in a fight, has been ruled out indefinitely. ... Devils RW Jaromir Jagr had his season five-game point streak halted.
