Russell Wilson threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score to overcome two costly miscues as the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Arizona Cardinals 38-30 Sunday afternoon in the regular-season finale in Glendale, Ariz.
Rashaad Penny rushed for a career-high 190 yards, including a 62-yard touchdown with 4:34 remaining, and Tyler Lockett scored on 43- and 5-yard receptions as the Seahawks (7-10) finished their season on a two-game winning streak.
James Conner scored two touchdowns for the Cardinals (11-6), who lost four of their last five games to finish second in the NFC West and claim the conference's No. 5 seed for the playoffs.
Arizona's Kyler Murray was 28-of-39 passing for 240 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown pass to Conner early in the third quarter that tied the score after Seattle led 17-10 at the half.
Wilson, who completed 15 of 26 passes for 238 yards, fumbled while being sacked by Chandler Jones on the game's second play from scrimmage and Arizona's Zach Allen picked up the loose ball and returned it 16 yards for a touchdown.
With the score tied 17-all in the third quarter, Wilson scrambled and overthrew running back Travis Homer on a screen pass. Jalen Thompson intercepted the ball and returned it 33 yards to the Seattle 1-yard line.
Conner scored on a second-and-goal plunge to give Arizona a 24-17 lead.
Wilson threw a 25-yard scoring strike to a wide-open Freddie Swain down the left sideline with 1:57 left in the third quarter to tie it up.
Seattle's defense forced a three-and-out on the next possession and Cardinals punter Andy Lee, standing at his own goal line, dropped the snap before picking up the ball and trying to run for a first down. He was tackled by Homer and fumbled, with the Seahawks' Cody Thompson recovering at the 10-yard line.
Three plays later, Wilson scampered for a 4-yard touchdown, giving Seattle a 31-24 lead.
Matt Prater's 30-yard field goal pulled the Cardinals within 31-27 before Penny broke off his long run.
Prater added a 36-yarder with 1:13 left, but Seattle's Jordyn Brooks recovered the ensuing onside kick and the Seahawks ran out the clock.
Brooks, a linebacker, had a game-high 20 tackles, including 14 solo and two for losses.
