Ahmad Brooks sacked Saints quarterback Drew Brees in overtime and Chris Borland (17 tackles) recovered the ensuing fumble to set up the decisive points as the 49ers (5-4) snapped their two-game losing streak. Colin Kaepernick passed for 210 yards and a touchdown while also tossing a 51-yard, fourth-down dart to Michael Crabtree to keep alive a late fourth-quarter drive that concluded with Dawson’s tying 45-yard field goal with 44 seconds remaining in regulation.

New Orleans pulled within 21-17 when Brees tossed an 11-yard scoring pass to Graham with 2:49 left in the third quarter. The Saints kept alive the go-ahead drive when Marques Colston broke through two tackles for 24 yards on fourth-and-3, and Brees threw a 2-yard TD pass to Graham with 1:52 remaining to give New Orleans a 24-21 edge.

San Francisco jumped out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead as Frank Gore scored on a 4-yard run and Carlos Hyde added a 9-yard TD. Shayne Graham’s 40-yard field goal got the Saints on the board and Brees hit Brandin Cooks on a 31-yard scoring toss to pull New Orleans within four before Kaepernick connected with Anquan Boldin on a 15-yard scoring pass with 4:45 remaining in the half to make it 21-10.
