C.J. Spiller rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns as Buffalo rebounded from a Week 1 shellacking with an easy victory in its home opener.

Spiller, who ran for a career-high 169 yards in the Bills' 48-28 loss to the New York Jets last week, scored on runs of 17 and 5 yards in the first and second quarters Sunday. Buffalo (1-1) outgained Kansas City 133-47 on the ground in the first half when it raced to a 21-0 lead en route to its fifth win in the last six meetings, including a 41-7 victory in the 2011 opener.

Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was 10 of 19 passing for 178 yards and two touchdowns. His second TD - a 49-yarder to a wide open Stevie Johnson over the middle with 5:35 left in the third quarter - gave the Bills a 28-3 lead. Buffalo put the game away 1:49 later when Leodis McKelvin returned a punt 88 yards for a score to make it 35-3.

The Chiefs had a pair of costly fumbles in the second quarter. Alex Carrington sacked and stripped the ball from Matt Cassel and Buffalo's Mario Williams recovered at the Chiefs' 43. Six plays later, Fitzpatrick connected with Scott Chandler for a 10-yard touchdown pass to make it 21-0 with 3:29 left in the half. Kansas City then drove to the Bills' 1, where running back Peyton Hillis lost the ball with 38 seconds left.

Cassel was 23 of 42 passing for 301 yards - including touchdown passes of 33 and 2 yards to Dwayne Bowe in the fourth quarter - as the Chiefs (0-2) lost for the eighth time in their last nine trips to Buffalo. Bowe caught eight passes for 102 yards.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bowe became the eighth Chief with 5,000 career receiving yards (5,082). ... Spiller, who became the fourth player in Bills history to start the season with consecutive 100-yard games, is averaging 10.0 yards per carry. ... Kansas City has been outscored 75-41 this season - it was outscored 89-10 in its first two games of 2011.
