Alex Smith completed threw for 197 yards and a touchdown and Frank Gore went over 100 yards for the fifth straight game as the visiting San Francisco 49ers pounded the Washington Redskins en route to a 19-11 victory.

The 49ers (7-1) have now won six straight games, the longest streak for the franchise in 14 years. Gore ran for 107 yards on 19 carries for San Francisco, which has won in the Eastern Time zone four times this season.

The 49ers entered the contest as the NFL leaders in scoring defense and had little trouble keeping the Redskins off the board. The only points Washington managed in the first half came on a 59-yard field goal from Graham Gano.

San Francisco held the Redskins to 52 yards rushing, marking the 30th straight game in which the team has not allowed a 100-yard rusher.

David Akers kicked three field goals and the 49ers scored their lone touchdown with 1:09 left in the second quarter. After recovering a fumble in Washington territory, Smith dropped back on the first play and found fullback Bruce Miller wide open on the left side for a 30-yard touchdown.

Unable to get anything going on the ground, Redskins quarterback John Beck was forced to throw 47 times, completing 30 for 254 yards and one touchdown.
