Santonio Holmes’ 52-yard reception in overtime set up Nick Folk’s 30-yard game-winning field goal as the New York Jets rallied past the Lions 23-20 at Detroit on Sunday.

The Lions (2-6) looked to be in control when Matt Stafford, who ran for one touchdown, threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Nate Burleson with 11:51 in the fourth quarter for a 20-10 lead.

But Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez scored from a yard out to cut the deficit to 20-17 and then New York got a 36-yard field by Folk on the final play of regulation to tie the game at 20-20.

Stafford finished 20 for 36 for 240 yards before leaving the game in the fourth quarter with an apparent shoulder injury.

Stafford scored on a 1-yard run of his own in the third quarter to give Detroit a 13-10 lead. Detroit missed what turned out to be a crucial extra point as defensive end Ndamukong Suh hit the uprights on the kick while subbing for the injured Jason Hanson.

The Lions struck first on a 10-yard scoring pass from Stafford to Brandon Pettigrew in the first quarter.

New York (6-2), which was shut out last week by the Green Bay Packers, didn’t score until Folk hit a 31-yard field goal with 4:46 left in the second quarter.

Sanchez then found Braylon Edwards on a 74-yard bomb with a minute left in the first half to give the Jets a 10-7 lead.

Sanchez finished 22 for 39 for 323 yards.
