No. 13 Memphis hardly missed star center James Wiseman, blowing out visiting Alcorn State 102-56 on Saturday.
Lester Quinones finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds, and Precious Achiuwa added 20 points to lead the Tigers (3-1), who went on a 24-3 run in the last seven minutes of the first half to blow the game open. They led 52-24 at halftime.
Isaiah Attles scored 13 points and Troymain Crosby added 10 to lead the Southwestern Atlantic Conference's Braves (1-3).
The Wiseman saga came to a pause Thursday, when his attorneys announced that the freshman had withdrawn his lawsuit against the NCAA. The school quickly ruled him ineligible but said it would "immediately apply for his reinstatement" to the NCAA.
Wiseman averaged 19.7 points and 10.7 rebounds in three games, the last two after he won a temporary restraining order against the NCAA. He will sit until an NCAA decision, which initially declared him ineligible due to receiving impermissible benefits from coach Anfernee Hardaway.
The Braves stayed within 28-21 with 7:03 left in the first half, thanks mostly to a big rebounding edge, but everything fell apart amid a deluge of turnovers and poor shooting.
The Braves, who finished the first half at 27.6 percent shooting, didn't score another field goal until Dekedran Thorn's jumper with 22 seconds before halftime. A handful of their 26 turnovers also contributed to the Tigers' run, which started with a 17-0 burst, capped by a long Tyler Harris 3-pointer to extend the lead to 45-21.
The Braves got a free throw from Cory Tillery with 2:22 left in the half to end the drought, but they also lost forward Anthony Fairley, who fouled out with about two minutes left in the first half. He played only seven minutes.
The lead crossed 40 points at 76-35 on a 3-pointer by Harris with just over 11 minutes remaining, and then 50 on a layup by Jayden Hardaway, the son of the head coach.
D.J. Jeffries scored 15 points, and Harris and Lance Thomas added 11 each for Memphis.
Memphis shot 57.8 percent from the field but was just 53.3 percent from the free throw line (24 of 45).
The Tigers turned the ball over 19 times.
