Duane Wilson led No. 16 Texas A&M with 22 points, and Robert Williams added 21 as the Aggies defeated Penn State 98-87 in the final of the Legends Classic on Tuesday night in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Wilson and Williams were nearly perfect from the field and played a big role in Texas A&M (4-0) knocking off previously unbeaten Penn State (5-1).

Wilson, a guard, made seven of 10 shots from the field and all seven free throws. Williams hit 10 of 12 from the field and added nine rebounds.

Overall, the Aggies shot well from everywhere, hitting 60 percent from the field (33 of 55), 89 percent from the free-throw line (26 of 29) and 50 percent on three-pointers (6 of 12).

The consistent shooting helped Texas A&M pull away in the second half. The Aggies held a 42-40 halftime lead after a back-and-forth first half, but they blitzed the Nittany Lions for 56 points in the second half and took command.

Penn State tied the score 45-45 on a layup by Tony Carr with 17:43 left in the game, but the Nittany Lions could never take the lead in the second half. They were still within six points before the Aggies reeled off nine straight points to grab a 15-point advantage with just under 13 minutes remaining.

Texas A&M had three more players who finished in double figures, led by center Tyler Davis, who had 15 points along with six rebounds.

Penn State got strong performances from guard Tony Carr and forward Lamar Stevens, who formed the bulk of the team's offense.

Carr finished with a game-high 31 points while Stevens added 25. But they were only Nittany Lions who scored in double figures.

Penn State scored 47 points in the second half, but just couldn't keep up with Texas A&M.
