All five starters scored in double figures as second-seeded Florida rolled to a 97-68 road win over seventh-seeded North Florida in the opening round of the National Invitation Tournament on Tuesday night at UNF Arena in Jacksonville, Fla.
Senior forward Dorian Finney-Smith had 18 points and nine rebounds for Florida (20-14), which will play third-seeded Ohio State in the second round. Junior guard Kasey Hill had 14 points. Sophomore center John Egbunu had 13 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman guard KeVaughn Allen also had 13 points.
Junior guard Dallas Moore had 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists for North Florida (22-12). Junior forward Chris Davenport scored 14 points. Senior guard Beau Beech had 13.
Florida was leading 10-9 when Finney-Smith made a 3-pointer to spark a 19-5 run that put the Gators up 29-14. They led 57-25 at the break after ending the half with a 17-2 run.
The Gators shot 52.6 percent and made 12 of 19 from 3-point range in the first period. The Ospreys shot 34.5 percent, made 4 of 15 from beyond the arc and committed 13 turnovers.
The Ospreys cut the deficit to 18 later in the second half, but they couldn't get any closer.
