Kansas State opened up a 15-point halftime lead, then pulled away in the second half to defeat Maryland-Eastern Shore 80-53 Friday night at Bramlage Coliseum. It was the season opener for both teams.
Kansas State was led by forward Wesley Iwundu with 23 points. Guards Justin Edwards and Barry Brown added 17 points each. Iwundu also led the Wildcats with 10 rebounds.

But K-State went on an 8-0 run to assume the lead, part of a 14-3 run to take a 19-12 lead midway through the first half. Kansas State continued to pull away, leading at intermission 35-21, its largest lead of the half.
