Ole Miss 94, BYU 90: Stefan Moody made five 3-pointers en route to 26 points as the Rebels rallied from 17 down in the second half to edge the Cougars in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Dayton, Ohio.

M.J. Rhett matched a career-high with 20 points while Jarvis Summers scored 11 and dished out 10 assists for 11th seed Ole Miss (21-12), which shot 60 percent from the field in the second half. Martavious Newby and Sebastian Saiz each added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Rebels, who play sixth-seeded Xavier in the second round of the Western Regional Thursday in Jacksonville, Fla.

Tyler Haws poured in 33 points, including 5-of-9 from behind the arc, for BYU (25-10). Chase Fischer made six 3-pointers en route to 23 points, Skyler Halford had 11 and Kyle Collinsworth contributed eight points, 10 assists and seven rebounds for the Cougars, who lost for only the second time in 10 games.

Haws scored 19 points and Fischer added 17 in the opening half as BYU slowly pulled away while making 10-of-15 from 3-point range en route to a 49-32 lead at intermission. The Cougars started the second half cold and Ole Miss slowly trimmed the deficit before Rhett scored 10 and Moody had five during a 15-2 burst for a 72-68 edge with 7:15 to go.

BYU moved back in front 80-78 after Corbin Kaufusi completed a three-point play followed by a Fischer 3-pointer with 3:51 left, but LaDarius White's jumper capped a 9-2 burst for an 87-82 lead. The Rebels led by two before Rhett made a foul-line jumper with 57.2 seconds to go, Saiz had a big basket with 32 ticks left for a 91-87 edge and Ole Miss held on.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Haws moved past Byron Larkin from Xavier (2,696), Daren Queenan of Lehigh (2,703) and Northeastern’s Reggie Lewis (2,708) and into 20th on the NCAA’s all-time scoring list with 2,720 points. … BYU finished 15-of-29 from 3-point range and Ole Miss made 7-of-23. … The Rebels had only seven turnovers and forced 15 while collecting 24 assists on 36 field goals. ... White added 10 points off the bench.
