Temple 61, USF 48: Will Cummings recorded 19 points, including the 1,000th of his career, as the visiting Owls rallied past the Bulls in American Athletic Conference play.

Cummings was only 4-of-12 from the field, but made 10-of-14 from the free throw line and dished out three assists as Temple (16-7, 7-3 AAC) won its fourth straight. Jesse Morgan scored nine while Quenton DeCosey added eight points to go along with eight rebounds and Jaylen Bond had nine boards for the Owls.

Corey Allen Jr. led the way with 16 points and three assists for USF (7-16, 1-9), which shot 34.5 percent from the field en route to its eighth consecutive defeat. Nehemias Morillo chipped in with 12 points and freshman Ruben Guerrero grabbed a career-best 14 rebounds for the Bulls, who had nine of their 13 turnovers in the second half.

Allen drained a 3-pointer and completed a three-point play in succession to give USF a 21-13 lead before Temple scored 10 of the last 13 to pull within a point at intermission. Devontae Watson had two baskets and Cummings converted a three-point play early in the second half as the Owls edged in front 30-26 with 16:52 left.

Josh Brown’s 3-pointer later pushed the advantage to seven, and when freshman Obi Enechionyia drained another from behind the arc as Temple led 48-40 with just under eight minutes remaining. The Bulls were within six before Brown and Cummings each hit 3-pointers to help build the lead back to 10 and the Owls cruised from there.
