Texas A&M 66, Sam Houston 63: Danuel House made a contested 3-pointer with 3.3 seconds left to lift the host Aggies to their 19th consecutive victory over the stubborn Bearkats.

Kourtney Roberson recorded 13 points and eight rebounds for Texas A&M (5-1), which blew a six-point lead in the final three minutes. Alex Caruso scored 12, Jalen Jones and Jordan Green added 10 apiece and House finished with nine as the Aggies survived an 11-of-22 performance from the free-throw line.

Kaheem Ransom registered 17 points and seven rebounds for Sam Houston (4-3), which was 18-of-21 from the line. Jabari Peters had 12 points and six rebounds while DeMarcus Gatlin scored 12 and Michael Holyfield grabbed nine rebounds for the Bearkats, who won the battle of the boards 40-34.

Texas A&M scored the first 11 points but needed a basket by Jones, who recorded six points, three steals and two blocks in the first 20 minutes, and Alex Robinson's contested layup at the buzzer to lead 30-27 at the break. Sam Houston went back in front 49-47 on a pair of free throws by Aurimas Majauskas with 10:27 left and Gatlin's driving shot high off the glass put the Bearkats on top 51-50 with 7:36 left, prompting a timeout from Aggies coach Billy Kennedy.

Green's 3-pointer from the corner with 6:03 remaining gave Texas A&M a 59-56 lead and Jones' dunk off Roberson's feed capped an 11-3 run and made it 63-57 with 2:56 to play. Baskets by Paul Baxter and Majauskas, and a pair of free throws by Ransom with 29.3 seconds left made it 63-63 before House delivered and the Aggies watched as Peters' shot from past halfcourt bounced off the rim.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Texas A&M assisted on 62.2 percent of its field goals in its first five games, but recorded 11 assists on 26 baskets against Sam Houston. ... The Aggies have won 68 of the 85 meetings between the schools located 77 miles apart. ... Sam Houston's bench outscored Texas A&M's reserves 26-12 after entering the game averaging 39.7 points.
