No. 7 Texas 63, Texas-Arlington 53: Freshman Myles Turner made 14-of-17 foul shots en route to 18 points, a season-high tying 10 rebounds and matched another personal best with five blocks as the Longhorns overcame a dreadful shooting performance to defeat the visiting Mavericks.

Texas (7-0) overcame 30 percent shooting from the field, including 5-of-27 from 3-point range, due to two main factors - a crisp 22-of-27 performance from the foul line and a dominant 52-25 rebounding advantage. Jonathan Holmes matched a career high with 16 rebounds to go with nine points and three blocks while Kendal Yancy contributed nine points and six boards.

UT Arlington (3-4) was led by nine points apiece from Jamel Outler and Greg Gainey. Johnny Hill contributed five points, six rebounds and four assists.

Coming off a last-second road victory against defending NCAA champion Connecticut on Sunday, the Longhorns missed 12 of their first 13 shots and trailed for most of the early part of the first half. Thanks to a 17-2 run, Texas was able to take control en route to a 39-28 halftime lead.

The Longhorns came out slow again in the second half, managing a total of five points in the first nine minutes as the Mavericks got within three. Turner answered by scoring the next eight Texas points and later knocked down 5-of-6 foul shots to restore a double-digit lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Arlington's Kevin Hervey led all scorers with eight first-half points while Yancy paced Texas with seven off the bench. ... Turner had attempted a total of 13 free throws in his first six games, making 11. ... Prince Ibeh and Cameron Ridley added two blocks apiece for the Longhorns, who have won 12 straight home games.
