Northwestern 55, Minnesota 54: Drew Crawford scored 17 points and grabbed five rebounds as the visiting Wildcats downed the Golden Gophers in Big Ten play.

JerShon Cobb added 15 points and six rebounds for Northwestern (12-11, 5-5), which has won four of its last five games. Tre Demps chipped in with 11 points, including the winning 3-pointer for the Wildcats, who finished 7-of-7 from the free-throw line.

Maurice Walker led the way with 14 points off the bench for Minnesota (15-7, 4-5), which has lost two games in a row. Austin Hollins recorded 13 points, six rebounds and three steals for the Golden Gophers, who shot 3-of-14 from beyond the arc.

Walker keyed a 16-2 run to put Minnesota on top by four before Kale Abrahamson scored five consecutive points to give Northwestern a 32-29 advantage at the break. Hollins and Malik Smith each hit 3-pointers to help the Golden Gophers pull in front 45-44 with less than nine minutes remaining in the game.

Crawford answered with a triple of his own to help Northwestern take a three-point lead with just over six minutes left. Demps nailed a clutch 3-pointer to give the Wildcats a 55-52 advantage with just under a minute remaining and survived two late attempts by Minnesota in the final five seconds to secure the victory.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Northwestern started off 5-of-10 from 3-point range before finishing 8-of-21. … Minnesota G Andre Hollins missed his second consecutive game with an ankle injury. … Demps has scored in double figures 15 times off the bench this season.
