No. 12 Arizona 73, Washington State 56: Kevin Parrom scored 19 points and tied a career high with five 3-pointers as the host Wildcats downed the sinking Cougars in Pac-12 play.

Mark Lyons added 14 points and Kaleb Tarczewski scored a career-best 12 points for Arizona (23-4, 11-4 Pac-12), which moved a half-game ahead of Oregon in the conference race. The Ducks can regain a share of the lead when they play Stanford later Saturday.

Brock Motum scored 20 points for last-place Washington State (11-17, 2-13), which dropped its eighth straight game. DaVonte Lacy added 10 points.

Arizona led by 22 points early in the second half before the Cougars cut their deficit in half on Motum’s basket with 8:25 to play. Parrom drained three 3-pointers during a span of 74 seconds to push the lead back up to 58-42 as the Wildcats thwarted the challenge.

The Wildcats used an early 14-2 run to open up a 13-point lead 11-plus minutes into the game. Washington State went 9:58 between field goals until D.J. Shelton ended the drought with a layup with 8:22 left in the half. Arizona led 35-19 at the break.
