Georges Niang scored the deciding basket with 2.5 seconds remaining and the Cyclones extended their home winning streak to 17 games.

West Virginia (8-8, 1-3 Big 12) battled back from an 18-point second-half deficit and tied the game at 67 on Jabarie Hinds' 3-pointer with 11.6 seconds to play, but Niang answered with a layup and the clock expired before the Mountaineers could take a final shot.

Melvin Ejim recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Cyclones (12-4, 2-1), who opened the second half on an 18-4 run and led 47-30 with 12:21 to play.

After missing their first 12 shots from 3-point range, the Mountaineers made nine of their final 12. Hinds scored a team-high 20 points, and Eron Harris added 17.

Korie Lucious had 15 points and eight assists for Iowa State, which was held under 70 points for the first time this season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: West Virginia freshman G Terry Henderson missed the game with a back problem. … Iowa State improved to 11-0 when outshooting its opponent and reaching 40 points first. …Mountaineers sophomore PG Juwan Staten, who was benched the past game and a half, returned to action and had seven points and seven rebounds.
