Louisiana State 66, UC Irvine 60: Andre Stringer scored a season-high 19 points and Shavon Coleman had 13 as the visiting Tigers won their first road game of the season.

Anthony Hickey was the only other player in double figures for LSU (7-1), finishing with 10 points off the bench.

Adam Folker scored 13 points for Irvine (5-7) and Michael Wilder, Chris McNealy and Alex Young had nine apiece.

Hickey scored seven points in a 10-0 run that gave LSU a 27-17 lead with 6:59 remaining in the first half.

The Anteaters scored the first five points of the second half to trim the deficit to three and another surge by Irvine in the closing minutes cut the deficit to three again, but the Tigers held off the Anteaters at the free-throw line.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hickey came into the game leading the nation in steals (4.4). He finished with two. ….The Anteaters entered the week ranked ninth in the nation in field-goal defense (35.1). The Tigers shot 26-for-70 (37.1). … LSU freshman G Corban Collins started for the second time this season and finished with six points.
