Seton Hall 76, Maine 49: Aaron Cosby scored a game-high 19 points, including four 3-pointers, as the Pirates held off an early challenge from the visiting Black Bears and pulled away.

Maine trailed 41-33 with 13:37 remaining before Seton Hall (4-1) built a 14-1 run – seven by Cosby – to take control. Brian Oliver followed with all of his 10 points to preserve the victory.

Justin Edwards led the way with 18 points and Alasdair Fraser added 13 for the Black Bears (0-4), who were just 1-of-9 from 3-point range.

Fuquan Edwin recorded 13 points and Gene Teague contributed 10 for the Pirates, who shot 52.6 percent from the field and made nine 3-pointers.

Edwards kept Maine afloat with 14 points in the first half, but the Black Bears saw the Pirates slowly sneak away. Back-to-back 3-pointers by Edwin and Cosby pushed the lead to 11 with 2:57 left, and Seton Hall went to halftime with a 31-20 advantage.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Seton Hall forward Brandon Mobley missed his second straight game with a hyper-extended left knee. … Seton Hall’s Kyle Smyth scored his first two-point field goal this season after making his first 10 from 3-point range. … It was the first meeting between the two programs. Seton Hall is the only Big East team on Maine’s schedule this season.
