James Michael McAdoo had 18 points and nine rebounds and the visiting Tar Heels dominated the second half to snap the 49ers’ 23-game home winning streak.

After leading 33-32 at halftime, North Carolina opened the second half with a 30-16 run. Marcus Paige scored 15 points and P.J. Hairston added 14 for the Tar Heels (3-0), who made seven of their 10 3-pointers in the second half.

James Ennis had 18 points and eight rebounds for Long Beach State (1-2), which shot 5-for-25 (20 percent) from 3-point range. Mike Caffey added 14 points and Dan Jennings grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

McAdoo scored 12 points in the second half and put North Carolina ahead 66-50 on a reverse dunk with 8:56 remaining. The 6-9 sophomore was two rebounds away from opening the season with three straight double-doubles.

The 49ers were outrebounded 45-38 and fell to 0-7 all-time against ACC opponents. Brice Johnson had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Tar Heels, who beat Long Beach State for the third straight year.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Long Beach State set an attendance record with 6,912 in the Walter Pyramid. … The Tar Heels play three straight days in the Maui Invitational starting Monday against Mississippi State. …After shooting 45.7 percent from the foul line in their first two game, the Tar Heels were 8-for-11 (72.7 percent) against the 49ers.
