Elston Turner scored a career-high 26 points, including four 3-pointers, and the Aggies weathered a second-half charge by the visiting Trojans before securing the victory.

Texas A&M led by 19 with 12:39 remaining after Fabyon Harris’ 3-pointer, but the Trojans (1-1) hit six of their next seven 3-point attempts and cut the lead to 71-63 with 5:27 to play.

The Aggies (2-0) drew clear with an 8-2 run, capped by two Turner 3-pointers. Turner shot 9-of-14 and led the Aggies in scoring for the second straight game. Harris and Ray Turner added 14 points apiece.

Hunter Williams led the Trojans with 15 points, including five 3-pointers. Ray Chambers had 10 points and five rebounds for Troy, which was outrebounded 33-19.

Alex Caruso had 13 points, five rebounds and four assists for Texas A&M, which shot 52.7 percent (29-of-55) and made 18 of its 20 free-throw attempts.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Aggies improved to 102-10 all-time in non-conference games at Reed Arena. … The Trojans, who opened the season with a 56-53 victory over Mississippi State, fell to 3-41 all-time against the SEC. … Troy shot 40.6 percent (13-of-32) from 3-point range.
