Maryland 82, Wake Forest 60: ACC leading scorer Terrell Stoglin scored 25 points as the Terps ran away from the Demon Deacons in the ACC tournament opener.

Maryland (17-14) snapped a three-game skid and advanced to face top-seeded North Carolina in Friday’s quarterfinals.

Wake Forest (13-18) ended its season on a three-game losing streak.

Running at every opportunity, Maryland went on a 9-0 run late in the first half and led 36-31 at the break. The Terps kept up the pace after halftime, with Stoglin sandwiching 3-pointers around three free throws he hit after being fouled on a trey.

Travis McKie led Wake Forest with 22 points and eight rebounds.

The Terps beat Wake Forest for the sixth straight time in the tournament, dating to 1973. Wake has not won an ACC tournament game since 2007.

Maryland lost to UNC twice in the regular season by an average of 16.5 points.

Game Notebook: Stoglin hit 3 of 6 from beyond the arc, giving him 86 3-pointers this season. He ranks third on Maryland’s all-time single-season list, three behind Walt Williams. … Maryland senior Sean Mosley made his 107th career start, tying Juan Dixon (1998-2002) for 12th on the school’s all-time list. … Wake Forest leading scorer C.J. Harris, who had made 25 straight free throws entering the tourney, went 3 of 6 at the foul line and finished with 14 points.
