VANDERBILT 61, GEORGIA 52: John Jenkins scored 28 points, including making 6 of 8 3-pointers, and Vanderbilt moved to within one game of second-place Florida in the SEC.

Georgia (12-14, 3-9 SEC) led 40-35 early in the second half, but Jenkins scored eight points during a 15-0 spurt that put the Commodores (19-8, 8-4) up by double digits for the first time at 50-40 with around eight minutes to play.

Jenkins, the conference’s leading scorer, buried two 3-pointers from the top of the key to squash one last Georgia challenge.

The Bulldogs shot 47 percent from the field in the first half, but struggled badly in the final 20 minutes, hitting just 10 of 34 shots.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Vanderbilt averaged 13.7 turnovers coming into the game, but turned the ball over 20 times, while Georgia, averaging 6.2 steals, had nine … The Commodores went the final 5:40 of the first half without registering a field goal and missed 15 of 21 field goal attempts (28), including several lay ups … Vanderbilt won for the sixth consecutive time in the series.
