Donte Williams scored four of his 11 points in overtime to help Georgia post a 57-53 victory over visiting Tennessee on Wednesday for its first SEC win of the season.

Williams’ last bucket put the Bulldogs ahead for good 54-53 with 1:03 remaining.

Georgia (10-8, 1-3 SEC), which led 27-24 at halftime, shot only 34.9 percent from the field.

Tennessee (8-10, 1-3 SEC) had the chance to put the game away, leading 40-35 with about six minutes left in the second half before two missed shots and two turnovers allowed Georgia to tie it at 40-40.

There would be five more ties counting regulation, which ended 46-46, and overtime before Georgia finally took control.

Gerald Robinson led the Bulldogs with 16 points, including two insurance free throws late in overtime. Nemanja Djurisic also had 11 points for Georgia, while leading scorer Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was held to nine.

Trae Golden scored 16 to pace the Volunteers but missed two shots in the final 11 seconds.

Jeronne Maymon added 12 points and newly cleared freshman Jarnell Stokes came off the bench to record 11 points and eight rebounds.

The teams were a combined 4-of-34 on 3-pointers.
