Myck Kabongo scored 12 of his 15 points in the second half as Texas survived an awful shooting performance and pulled away from visiting Oklahoma State 58-49 on Saturday.

Texas (11-4, 1-1 Big 12) shot 18-of-60 from the field (30), including 3-of-18 on 3-pointers. The Longhorns won it on the free throw line where they made 12-of-16 in the second half, including 7-of-10 from Kabongo.

Oklahoma State (8-7, 1-1) tied the game at 42 on a 3-pointer by Brian Williams (game-high 16 points) with 7:50 left in the game, but it was all Longhorns in the final eight minutes. Julien Lewis nailed a 3-pointer and followed with a layup, and Kabongo had seven of his points over the final 6:50 as part of a 16-4, game-ending run.

Both teams struggled mightily shooting the ball in the opening half and went into the locker room tied at 21. Oklahoma State got seven points apiece from Michael Cobbins and Williams, and the two combined to hit 5-of-8 shots, but the rest of the team made only 3-of-18.

The Longhorns' misery took place mostly behind the 3-point line, where they missed all 11 attempts. Texas held a 17-12 lead after a layup by Sheldon McClellan at the 4:40 mark, but Oklahoma State scored nine of the final 13 points of the half.
