Pierre Jackson had a game-high 19 points as No. 5 Baylor remained unbeaten with a 73-60 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday at United Spirit Arena.

Brady Heslip finished with 16 points and Quincy Miller added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Bears (15-0, 2-0 Big 12), who are off to the best start in school history and are one of just three remaining unbeatens in the country.

Baylor took a 32-31 lead into halftime, but quickly extended the advantage early in the second half behind Jackson, who helped ignite a 12-2 run. Jackson, a junior guard, scored eight points during the stretch for the Bears, who earned their third straight win in Lubbock.

Texas Tech (7-7, 0-2 Big 12) didn’t make its first field goal of the second half until the 13:48 mark, when Ty Nurse made a 3-pointer to pull the Red Raiders within 46-38. Nurse finished with 10 points for Texas Tech, which dropped its first home game of the season after a 6-0 start.

The Red Raiders got as close as 57-53 with 6:54 left, but Baylor responded with an 8-1 run to stretch the lead back to double figures.

Javarez Willis had a team-high 13 points and Jaye Crockett added 11 for the Red Raiders, who were held to 39.6 percent shooting.

Baylor outrebounded Texas Tech 31-20, including a 10-5 advantage on the offensive glass.
