Kris White scored 13 points for Western Oregon (9-2), which entered on a nine-game win streak.

Marcus Capers had a team-best nine points for Washington State, which used a strong defense to frustrate the Wolves into 4-of-23 shooting (17.4 percent) in the second half.

Washington State made nine 3-point baskets in a balanced offensive showing. Cougars leading scorer Faisal Aden returned from a three-game absence due to a concussion, and came off the bench to score seven points in 23 minutes.

The Cougars led just 28-25 at halftime but steadily pulled away. Mike Ladd’s 3-pointer gave Washington State a 40-30 lead less than five minutes into the half and the Cougars later ran off 11 consecutive points to take a 22-point lead with 5:33 remaining.

Cougars forward Abe Lodwick, a two-year starter who had been out with a foot injury, played 14 minutes off the bench in his first action of the season.
