John Jenkins scored 27 points, one short of his season best, and host Vanderbilt defeated Lafayette 89-58 on Wednesday.

The junior made 9-of-12 from the field and matched his career-high with seven 3-pointers, and also handed out four assists as the Commodores (8-4) won their second consecutive game.

Vanderbilt also got 16 points from Jeffery Taylor, who had scored at least 20 in the last three games, and 15 points from Lance Goulbourne.

Seth Hinrichs hit 6-of-8 field goals and finished with 16 points and Ryan Willen scored 13 for Lafayette (4-7), which dropped its second straight game.

Vanderbilt raced to a 17-4 lead and had a 39-24 advantage at halftime as the Commodores shot 50 percent and made five 3-pointers. They wound up shooting 58 percent from the floor and 50 percent on 3-pointers (15-for-30).
