Royce White scored 14 points and Iowa State recovered late after squandering an early 16-point lead to hold off Central Michigan 59-52 on Sunday in Ames, Iowa.

Iowa State (8-3) won its third straight and it looked like it was going to be easy as the Cyclones raced to a 27-11 lead midway through the first half, but Central Michigan (5-6) used a 15-3 run to get back into the game.

ISU, which led 35-26 at halftime, lost the lead for the first time with 7:24 remaining after a basket by Trey Zeigler, who scored a game-high 19 points, gave the Chippewas their only lead at 48-47. Iowa State then finished the game on a 12-4 run as it outscored CMU 18-6 from the free throw line for the game.

Chris Babb and Tyrus McGee each added 11 points for the Cyclones, who shot 43.9 percent from the field and made just five 3-point field goals in the game. ISU came into the game leading the Big 12 Conference in 3-pointers, averaging more than nine.
