Terrell Stoglin led the way with 20 points as Maryland came back from a seven-point deficit in the second half to record a 65-61 victory over visiting Florida International on Wednesday.

Stoglin sat six minutes in the second half with four fouls, but scored seven points down the stretch. Ashton Pankey added 13 points – 11 in the second half – and a key block late for Maryland (6-3), which has won three straight.

Trailing 52-50, Maryland scored seven straight points and Florida International (3-7) missed 10 straight shots.

Phil Taylor led the Golden Panthers with 20 points and seven assists, and Jeremy Allen added 18 points. DeJuan Wright, Florida International’s leading scorer, missed the second half with a leg injury after scoring six points in the first.

Allen was 4-for-5 from 3-point range and had 14 points in the first half as Florida International led by as many as 11 before settling for a 34-27 halftime advantage. The Golden Panthers were 5-of-10 from behind the arc and Maryland missed their only two attempts.

Stoglin was held to 1-of-8 from the field for eight points and Maryland committed nine turnovers in the first 20 minutes. The Golden Panthers scored 11 points off Terrapins’ turnovers before halftime.
