Pierre Jackson scored 16 points off the bench, and No. 8 Baylor suffocated Northwestern defensively in a 69-41 victory on Sunday at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

Fourteen of Jackson’s points came on 6-of-6 shooting in the first half, when the Bears (7-0) shot 70 percent from the field to build a 38-21 halftime edge.

Baylor dominated Northwestern (7-1) inside, routinely finding post players for wide-open dunks or easy looks.

Quincy Acy added 16 points for the Bears, and Perry Jones III scored 12 in just his second game of the season after serving a five-game suspension.

Drew Crawford scored 15 points to lead the Wildcats, who had trouble with Baylor’s length on both ends of the floor. Northwestern couldn’t get any easy baskets, operating much of its offense well beyond the 3-point line and missing 20 of its first 22 second-half shots.

Baylor took its first double-digit lead on Jackson’s fast-break layup that put the Bears ahead 29-18 with 4:27 left before halftime.

The lead swelled to 21 early in the second half when Acy rejected a shot on the defensive end and then raced down the court for a fast-break layup to make it 42-21.

This was the first meeting between these two schools. Baylor won its first non-conference road game since 2009.
