Mardracus Wade led the way with 20 points and four rebounds
as Arkansas crushed Mississippi Valley State, 97-64, on Wednesday.
Julysses Nobles added 16 points and Devonta Abron chipped in
13 and six rebounds for the Razorbacks (5-1), who shot 59 percent (35 of 59) in
the contest, including 11 of 23 from 3-point range.
Arkansas put it out of reach early, banging in four
3-pointers in the first five minutes to jump out to an 18-3 lead. The Razorbacks
hit eight 3-pointers in the first half to take a 47-30 lead into the locker
room.
The Delta Devils kept the deficit within 20 points until
midway through the second half, when Arkansas ripped off a 19-6 run to erase
any doubt.
The Razorbacks have scored at least 80 points in four of
their six games and will get their stiffest test of the pre-conference slate
this Saturday when they visit No. 10 Connecticut.
Cor-J Cox collected 15 points and nine rebounds for
Mississippi Valley State (1-6), which is enduring one of the toughest schedules
in the country. The Delta Devils have already faced Notre Dame, DePaul, North
Carolina and South Carolina and still have trips to Northwestern, Mississippi,
Florida and Wisconsin.
