Travis McKie scored a career-best 25 points and C.J. Harris added a season-high 22 points as Wake Forest pulled away in the second half for a 93-79 victory over visiting North Carolina Central.

Nikita Mescheriakov added 15 points as Wake Forest (3-0) shot 57.6 percent from the field.

McKie was 9 of 15 from the field and connected on four 3-point baskets, while Harris made 8 of 11 shots. Mescheriakov hit all three of his 3-point attempts as the Demon Deacons went 12 of 17 from behind the arc.

Ray Willis scored 23 points for North Carolina Central (1-3).

The game was tied 35-35 at halftime before Wake Forest hit its first six second-half shots to take a 49-39 lead. The Eagles pulled within 62-55 on Landon Clement’s 3-pointer with 9:45 left but the Demon Deacons outscored North Carolina Central 25-14 over the next six-plus minutes to end the suspense.

Clement scored 16 points and made four 3-pointers for the Eagles. Dominique Sutton and Ebuka Anyaorah chipped in with 14 points apiece.
