TULSA, Okla. – Lamont Jones gave Arizona the lead for keeps, and Derrick Williams’ block at the rim in the final seconds kept Memphis from tying the game as the fifth-seeded Wildcats held off the 12th-seeded Tigers 77-75 on Friday at the Bank of Oklahoma Center.

Williams scored 22 points with 10 rebounds for the Wildcats (28-7), who advance to face fourth seed Texas in the third round on Sunday. Antonio Barton scored 17 points to lead Memphis (25-10), which used a 13-0 run to take a 53-50 lead with 13 minutes to go.

Jones snapped a 68-68 tie with a 3-pointer from the left wing with 1:37 to go, making it 71-68 Wildcats. Two Williams two free throws with 53.1 seconds left pushed the lead to 73-68. Down 75-70, Memphis got two Joe Jackson free throws followed by a Jackson stickback to bring the Tigers within 75-74 with 14 seconds left.

Jones made it 77-74 Arizona on two free throws with eight seconds to go. Jackson was fouled, made the first free throw and intentionally missed the second. Wesley Witherspoon grabbed the rebound for Memphis, but Williams blocked his shot from inside with three seconds to go.

Jones finished with 18 points for Arizona, which hit 26 of 31 free-throw attempts. Will Barton scored 12 points for Memphis.
