Oregon used a strong defensive effort and a game-high 24 points from E.J. Singler to top UCLA 76-59 Thursday in the second round of the Pac-10 tournament in Los Angeles.

Oregon will play Washington in the semifinals Friday.

Malcolm Armstead added 13 points for the Ducks, who led by as many as 22 points in the second half and pressured UCLA’s shooters all night, holding the Bruins to just 35 percent shooting in the game. Tyler Honeycutt scored 19 points to lead UCLA, which has lost two of its last three games.

Oregon jumped on the Bruins midway through the first half, running out to a 38-24 halftime lead as UCLA shot 24 percent from the field in the first half.

Oregon led 21-19 with 7:30 left in the first half when the Ducks produced a 17-5 run before halftime. Singler and Joevan Catron combined for seven points on the run to spark the Ducks, who have won two straight after entering the Pac-10 tournament on a four-game losing streak.

The Bruins’ All-Pac-10 trio of Honeycutt, Reeves Nelson and Malcolm Lee combined to shoot 10 of 25 from the floor in the loss.
