Jimmy Butler led five players in double figures with 16 points and host Marquette improved to 8-0 all-time against Seton Hall with a 73-64 victory on Saturday.

Darius Johnson-Odom had 13 points and Jae Crowder added 12 for Marquette (16-11, 7-7 Big East), which is looking for a strong finish after a string of five losses in seven games put a serious damper on its hopes for an NCAA Tournament at-large bid.

The Golden Eagles shot 57 percent from the field, with most of their scoring coming inside. They were 3 for 12 from 3-point range.

Jeremy Hazell scored 23 points for Seton Hall (11-16, 5-10), which has been playing shorthanded due to the dismissal of guards Keon Lawrence and Jamel Jackson.

The Golden Eagles, who haven’t lost to the Pirates since joining the Big East in 2005-06, took a commanding 66-50 lead thanks to a 12-3 run midway through the second half.

The Pirates cut the lead to nine with 2:36 to play, but couldn’t get any closer.
