Jorge Brian Diaz scored 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting and Toney McCray added 12 as visiting Nebraska escaped with a 59-58 victory over Oklahoma on Wednesday.
Lance Jeter added 10 points and eight rebounds for the Cornhuskers (17-8, 5-6 Big 12), who kept their shrinking hopes for an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament alive by putting together back-to-back wins for the first time since conference play began.
Nebraska led 53-47 after Jeter’s 3-pointer with 5:29 left but went nearly five minutes without a field goal. Steven Pledger brought Oklahoma back, drawing a foul on a 3-pointer and hitting all three free throws, and then draining one from beyond the arc on the next possession to tie the game with 3:23 remaining.
The Cornhuskers went back up, 59-56, on Jeter’s free throws with 16 seconds left.
It looked as though the Sooners (12-13, 4-7) had forced overtime, but Cade Davis’ jumper with three seconds left was inside the arc, allowing Nebraska to squeeze out the win.
