Maalik Wayns led the way with 22 points and Corey Fisher added 17 points and five assists as No. 7 Villanova overcame a double-digit deficit en route to a 74-66 victory over Maryland on Saturday.

Antonio Pena chipped in 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats (16-1), who have won 11 straight.

Villanova led by as much as 23-15 midway through the first half after a 10-0 spurt. But the Terrapins climbed right back into it, closing the period with a 14-6 burst to take a 36-33 lead into the break. Jordan Williams helped Maryland control the pace, battling inside for 16 points and nine rebounds in the opening period.

Maryland (11-6) built its lead to as much as 59-47 with 9:29 left before going cold. The Wildcats took advantage, ripping off a 19-0 run, highlighted by a pair of 3-pointers from Fisher. James Bell’s three-point play with 5:25 left gave Villanova its first lead of the half, 62-59, as the Terrapins went over seven minutes without scoring.

Villanova heads back into the teeth of the Big East schedule on Monday at No. 9 Connecticut, before heading to No. 4 Syracuse next weekend.
