Kenny Boynton scored 14 points and Erik Murphy added 10 to help the No. 14 Florida basketball team gain a rivalry weekend split in Tallahassee with a 55-51 triumph over Florida State at the Donald L. Tucker Center.

Until their 31-7 rout over Florida on Saturday, the Seminoles football team had not beaten the Gators since 2003.

Florida State (5-1) almost made it a sweep of the gridiron and hardwood after mounting a huge second-half comeback, but Murphy's stickback of an airball with the shot clock winding down and 16 seconds to play preserved it for Florida (5-1).

Murphy's 3-pointer in the closing seconds gave the Gators a 30-21 halftime lead, their largest in the first 20 minutes, and they pushed it to a 41-28 margin with about 11 minutes remaining.

Michael Snaer, who made 5 of 6 3-pointers for a game-high 15 points, sparked the Seminoles' rally. Three times FSU cut the deficit to one but failed to tie or claim the lead.

Florida had not won at FSU since December 2002, and had lost three straight in the series until a 68-52 win in Gainesville last season.
