Dallin Hall had 13 of his 18 points in the second half as BYU defeated No. 7 Kansas 76-68 on Tuesday night.
Kansas had won 19 straight home games dating to last season, which was tied for the third-longest active streak in the country. The Jayhawks had won 71 straight when leading at halftime.
It was BYU's first win ever in Lawrence, Kan., and its first road win over a top-10 team since knocking off Gonzaga in 2017. The Cougars (20-8, 8-7 Big 12) came into the game third in Division I with 11.4 3-pointers per game, and second with 32.4 3-point attempts per game. BYU finished 13 of 34 from long range, including 7 of 15 after halftime.
Jaxson Robinson also had 18 points for the Cougars.
The Jayhawks (21-7, 9-6) were led by Hunter Dickinson with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Dajuan Harris Jr. added 12 points, KJ Adams Jr. had 11 and Johnny Furphy had 10.
BYU was saddled with foul trouble in the second half. The Cougars' starting guards, Trevin Knell and Hall, each had four fouls at the 15:00 mark of the second half.
Robinson hit a 3-pointer with 12:11 left in the half to trim the Cougars' deficit to 47-45. Hall hit two free throws with 4:50 left to give the Cougars their first lead of the game.
Nicolas Timberlake hit a 3-pointer with 3:08 left to tie the score at 63-63. Waterman answered with a 3 to give the lead back to BYU but Dickinson answered with another 3 to tie it at 66-66.
Robinson hit a pair of free throws with 2:04 left to give BYU a two-point lead. Hall hit a 3-pointer with 1:31 left to give the Cougars a 71-66 lead. Hall hit a free throw to make it 72-66 and the Jayhawks didn't threaten again.
Kansas never trailed in the first half. BYU went almost five minutes without scoring late in the half, which allowed Kansas to build a 35-26 lead, its largest of the half. The Jayhawks led 35-29 at halftime.
Adams led the Jayhawks with nine first-half points. BYU was led by Robinson with six points.
