HEAT 115, PACERS 83: LeBron James dominated again with 30 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists and Dwyane Wade had another strong game as host Miami took a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Wade scored 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting and Shane Battier took his turn as a solid third option with 13 points, going 4 for 5 from 3-point range.
The Heat set a franchise playoff record by shooting 61.4 percent and fell one point shy of a playoff scoring record.
After looking lost without Chris Bosh in Games 2 and 3, the Heat have gone back to doing what they do best in the last two contests - playing strong team defense and letting James and Wade do it all on offense. Miami held Indiana to 33.7 percent shooting in Game 5.
The third quarter has been the turning point in each of the last three games and Tuesday was no different, with the Heat turning a nine-point halftime lead into a blowout with a strong effort out of the break. James and Wade combined for 23 points in the frame while the Pacers shot 28.6 percent in the period in getting outscored, 27-17.
Indiana could not put a run together in the fourth quarter as Miami continued to stretch it out, going up 98-70 on Wade’s 3-pointer with 4:26 left before emptying the bench.
Paul George led the Pacers with 11 points.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Miami PG Mario Chalmers pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds. … Heat F Udonis Haslem was called for a flagrant foul type one after a hard hit on Tyler Hansbrough and Miami C Dexter Pittman was called for a flagrant foul type one for giving Lance Stephenson a forearm to the neck. … Pacers F Danny Granger and F David West each left the game with ankle sprains.
