GRIZZLIES 109, CAVALIERS 101: Marc Gasol had 17 points, including the jumper with 2:48 left that gave host Memphis the lead for good after Cleveland went the final three minutes without scoring a basket.

Gasol’s turnaround jumper broke a 98-98 tie and the Cavaliers missed 5 of 6 free throws in the final 2:48. Kyrie Irving missed a pair, his first two misses since returning from a sprained right shoulder (he made 13 in a row since returning) and Tristan Thompson missed 3 of 4.

Irving finished with 25 points in his fourth game back, but the Cavaliers lost for the 17th time in their last 21 games.

Tony Allen tied a franchise record with eight steals, Marreese Speights had 17 points and 10 rebounds and Rudy Gay had 15 points for the Grizzlies, who placed all five starters in double figures.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cavaliers coach Byron Scott said center Semih Erden will not return after spraining his right ankle two weeks ago. … Gilbert Arenas was inactive for the Grizzlies as coach Monty Williams rests him for the playoffs. … O.J. Mayo had 14 points and five assists off the bench for the Grizzlies. … Alonzo Gee returned to the starting lineup from a sprained ankle, scoring eight points for the Cavaliers.
